I know we have recently been sending you a lot of email. But each email includes a separate important message about our firearms civil rights in New Hampshire.
2016 seems to be the year in which the gun ban elites are attempting to enact significant infringements on your right to keep and bear arms. One of those radical gun ban activists, Rep. Katherine Rogers has introduced, HB 1368, a gun owner insurance bill which is really a clever attempt at a backdoor gun ban.
HB 1368 requires anyone who purchases a firearm to: “…present[s] to the seller proof that the purchaser is covered by a qualified liability insurance policy.”
We have made some informal inquiries and we cannot find even a single insurance company that sells such a policy. HB 1368 will create a statewide gun ban because either the required insurance will not be available for sale OR the insurance industry will realize that they have been given a green light by the legislature to fleece firearms owners who will now be required to purchase liability insurance and the cost will be astronomical. Maybe, $1,000, $1,500 or even $10,000 per year per policy. They might even charge a higher premium if you have a concealed carry license! Self defense will be out of reach to all but the very affluent.
HB 1368 must be stopped and here is what you can do to help. The bill will be given a public hearing by the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 1:45 PM.
We are confident that we have enough NHFC Board Members and volunteers to attend the public hearing. But we still need your help. When I address the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee on Thursday, I want them to know that I am backed by all of you, the thousands of grassroots New Hampshire gun owners who care deeply about our Constitutional Rights and the freedoms those rights enable.
So all that I am asking you to do is to please click here to send an email to all of the members of the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee. Please politely request that the committee votes HB 1368 “Inexpedient to Legislate” (ITL). This is an overtly anti-gun bill that must be stopped; NO AMENDMENTS ARE ACCEPTABLE!.
