Mr. Casey developed a mobile app that monitors updates to the status of bills in real time. If you have been following our alerts and updates you know that we are actively fighting HB 109, sell a gun to a friend and go to jail and HB 564 which will only make our schools safer for criminals by disarming the law abiding. If you click here for the Docket of HB 109 or click here for the Docket of HB 564 you would see that both bills passed the House of Representatives and were sent to the Senate for consideration, were assigned to the Judiciary Committee but that a public hearing has not yet been scheduled.
But here’s where things get strange. Please bear with me as I explain, what appears to be manipulation of legislative process.
The Senate Judiciary Committee is Chaired by anti-gun radical Senator Martha Hennessey and based on the information provided by our friendly computer programmer, it appears that Senator Hennessey scheduled then cancelled hearings for HB 109, HB 514 and HB 564 then covered the tracks by undoing the changes and removing the evidence from docket by reducing the number of entries in the docket(s). Why would she do this? It was obvious from the hearings that were held by the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee and Education Committee that there is widespread opposition to these unconstitutional anti-gun infringements. Therefore, in an attempt to make it difficult for NHFC to notify and mobilize our supporters, Senator Hennessey is trying to schedule a public hearing with as little notice as possible. We have very good reason to believe that these public hearings will be scheduled on a Thursday evening, for the following Tuesday morning. A hearing might occur as soon as April 30, 2019.
What is likely is that a hearing will be scheduled for a Tuesday and posted to the legislature’s website on a Thursday afternoon. As soon as we have further information we will send another alert. PLEASE MAKE PLANS NOW TO ASK FOR THE NEXT FEW TUESDAYS OFF FROM WORK! IF THERE IS NO HEARING YOU CAN JUST GO TO WORK. But we think an early request for a day off may be viewed more favorably than a last minute request.
However, even though we don’t know when a hearing will be held, it is not to early to start contacting your Senators as well as Governor Sununu to let them know you are strongly opposed to all of the anti-gun bills that have the House of Representatives:
HB 109, sell a gun to a friend and go to jail;
HB 514, up to 12 day wait between purchase and delivery of a firearm and a new, mandatory training requirement for gun owners;
HB 564, criminal safe schools;
HB 696, elder care gun confiscation.
Please click here to find out who your Senator is and how to contact your Senator. Then, send an email and urge them to vote all of these bills inexpedient to legislate and let them know that you are well aware of the tricks Senator Hennessey’s is playing.
Email Governor Sununu, governorsununu@nh.gov, and urge him to veto any of these bills if they reach his desk. Please remember to be polite but firm and request that the Governor respond to your message.
