This week the House of Representatives voted to approve HB 696, the so called Elder Care / Gun Confiscation bill that we have been warning you about. We expected most anti-gun Democrats to support gun confiscation. However, we were surprised to see eleven Republicans abandon their party platform and vote for gun confiscation. Especially since the GOP made it clear that the party is opposed to HB 696, gun confiscation. I am very happy to finally see the GOP Chair working so hard to enforce the provisions of the party platform.
Here’s the GOP gallery of shame:
Rep. David Danielson, Bedford
Rep. Dennis Fields, Sanbornton
Rep. John Fothergill, Colebrook
Rep. Betty Gay, Salem
* Rep. Edward Gordon, Bristol
Rep. Joseph Guthrie, Hampstead
Rep. Frank Kotowski, Hooksett
* Rep. William Marsh, Wolfeboro
* Rep. Charles McMahon, Windham
Rep. Walter Stapleton, Claremont
Rep. John Sytek, Salem
Of these eleven rogue Republicans, the Representatives marked with an * are co-sponsors of gun confiscation. The remaining eight are simply treasonous. Click here to see how all Representatives voted then make sure to thank your Representatives who opposed gun confiscation. HB 696 is scheduled to go to a second committee, (Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee) and when we have additional information we will send an alert out.
The House of Representatives also voted to make our children less safe by banning concealed carry in or near a school zone. All Republicans who actually voted, voted against HB 564 along with nine courageous Democrats. Please click here to see the vote tally. HB 564 is also scheduled to go to another committee, (Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee) and when we have additional information we will send an alert out.
On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 10AM, the New Hampshire House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee will hold a public hearing on HB 687, the other gun confiscation bill. Plan to attend to let the committee know that you are opposed to so called, “red flag” gun confiscation. Several of our past alerts have included the details on HB 687. Please click here, we have another alert here, or click here for our fact sheet on gun confiscation. My good friend Jared over at Guns and Gadgets produced two informative videos on gun confiscation. Click here to view the first video and click here for the second video.
Now is the time to start contacting members of the Committee to express your opposition to HB 687, gun confiscation.
Pre-written message to Members of the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee:
HouseCriminalJusticeandPublicSafety@leg.state.nh.us
Dear Representatives:
Next week you will conduct a public hearing on HB 687, gun confiscation. HB 687 deprives individuals of their Second, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights without due process by allowing ex-parte hearings, conducted by telephone to allow judges to order the confiscation of someones guns without the person even being present. Sure, the accused can have a court hearing after his/her property has been taken but that is not due process. Furthermore, the “accused” would be forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars on attorneys and experts to reclaim their civil right to bear arms. A person who is accused of a crime, even a low level offense retains their Constitutional right to face their accuser and have their day in court before punishment is meted out. However, in the case of HB 687 a person will be deprived of their property without a court hearing. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I urge you to OPPOSE the Gun Confiscation Bill, HB 687. Please do not force this unconstitutional scheme into law.
Please vote HB 687 “inexpedient to legislate”; The New Hampshire Firearms Coalition will keep me informed of your vote.
Thank you for your consideration.
As always, if any State Representative(s) write back, please send me a copy: arice@nhfc-ontarget.org
Thanks for your support!
